Released in late 1995, this is
a fine sequel to the award-winning "Johnny Whistletrigger" album of Civil
War songs from the Missouri,
Kansas, Arkansas region. This album has also been named a Notable Recording
for 1996 by the American
Library Association. Most of the selections are rare songs not previously
recorded on any other Civil War
album.

The 40
page booklet packed with this CD contains lyrics to the songs as well as
extensive historical notes for each song and a bibliography. The cover
of the CD booklet is a detail showing Missouri general Sterling Price
and his men from a triptych of the Battle of Pea Ridge, Arkansas, by
Hunt P. Wilson, a participant in the battle. It is used courtesy of the
Museum of the Confederacy, Richmond, Virginia.
